Energy Tax Credit!
The federal government has put very energy efficient windows and doors on a 30% off sale!

It's win-win-win!
You can save money on taxes, save money on heating bills and enjoy living in a more comfortable home.

The Recovery & Reinvestment Act offers you a tax credit if you buy highly energy efficient doors and windows before the end of 2010. Buy $5000 worth of windows and get $1500 back on your taxes.

What specifically does the new law provide?

Homeowners who replace windows or doors in their principle residence with highly energy efficient ones will be able to claim a tax credit of 30% of the cost of the windows up to a limit of $1500. The windows must have a U-value and an SHGC below 0.30. Labels with the ratings are affixed to the windows. You can save the labels along with your invoice to substantiate the tax credit.

Tax credit: Way better than a deduction, a tax credit is a straight dollar for dollar reduction in how much you owe, in other words it comes right back to you.

U-Factor: A standardized measurement of how well a window assembly prevents heat from escaping out of your house.

SHGC: Solar Heat Gain Coefficient is the fraction of the heat from the sun that comes into your house through a window.

Peter and Aida can work with you to determine which windows or doors fit your needs and qualify for the tax credit. The window specifications are fairly stringent. Not all double paned windows qualify. Even Low E doesn't guarantee compliance. Marvin, Andersen, Integrity and Milgard all make windows that satisfy the tax credit requirements.
